Top 6 Useful Baby Shower Gifts

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

Buying a gift for a baby shower is stressful, but creating a baby shower registry or knowing what you need before you even have a child is a super power you just don't have yet. The knowing what you might need feature of becoming a mum sets in once you have the child.

I have put together a list of the top 5 baby shower gifts that people don't think of to help you out. Everyone knows about the nappy cakes, the muslin wraps, the cute onsies, the pacifier, the baby powder etc, but here are five items that you may not think of or cute unique gifts that are also useful.

I was gifted these for my baby and I can't say enough good things about them. I have one to travel with and one that stays in the bed. They have lullabies and white noise which mimics the sound of the womb with a heart beat. It really seems to settle my little girl down, especially at night. I have it playing the white noise when I am feeding her right before bedtime and she goes straight to sleep.

These are so useful to put on the change table! Yes, you have your changing mat and the cute cover over the top, but nothing beats the feeling of being able to fold up a soiled pad and throw it away, rather than stripping everything off and throwing it in the wash! So much less mess. I was able to get a few of the blueys from the hospital which lasted for a little while.

Panadol is such a life saver when it really comes down to a rough night for your little one. There is nothing worse than having your little one in pain, whether its belly pain or teething and you don't have anything to help. While I don't necessarily use Panadol often, its those really rough nights for everyone where it comes in handy to just have on standby. Just seek your Pediatricians advice on its use.

You literally can never have enough puke rags for burping and other fluids that are often flowing their mouths. I had a whole bunch made for me which are a life saver, but you can use the bulk pack of cloth nappies from Big W as well! They get covered in milk instantly and you always need an endless supply of them. Not a pretty gift, but a useful one (although you can get the rainbow pack haha).

5. Bassinet or Cot Sheets

Another item you just can't have enough of! I have been told that if you put a couple of layers on the bed then you can just strip off layer by layer if they get soiled rather than needing to change everything in the middle of the night! This is so useful to have multiples of these and its not usually something that people will buy you!

These have been an absolute life saver for our little one. Right from Day 1 she was so good and wriggling her little arms out of the swaddle and sleeping with them beside her head. We tried the Love to Dream Swaddle Up and she instantly was comfortable in it. It kept her safe, warm and swaddled all night in her most comfortable position. They then have the transition stage which we are moving into!

Hope you find this useful!
