List of "Wish I packed" items for your hospital bag

Writer's picture: Courtney StollCourtney Stoll

Giving birth is one heck of an event to pack for! I recently saw a Facebook post asking other mummas what they wished they had packed in their hospital bag for their stay after baby was born. Have you been wondering what you really need to pack for your hospital stay as well? It is an overwhelming checklist that is for sure. I found that the Mater Hospital Checklist was great! I didn't necessarily use everything but I was prepared. I decided it would be helpful to share what other mummas thought with you all!

List of items other mummas wish they packed in their hospital bag:

  1. Lip balm

  2. Water Bottle

  3. Long charger cable

  4. Socks

  5. Snacks

  6. High-waisted underwear

  7. Pain reliever for your partner

  8. Stool softener

  9. Baby mittens

  10. Face washer

  11. Extra maternity pads

  12. Nipple cream

  13. Hair Ties

  14. Dry shampoo

  15. Hand lotion

  16. Puke bag for the drive to hospital

Of course there are always going to be other things that you wish you had or that you don't realise you might need. For example, who knows how you will go breastfeeding and you might need a nipple shield which is something you don't need to spend the money on from the start!

One thing I did enjoy after the first day was little things like moisturizing my face, washing my hair and a fresh shirt. Made me feel more human.

Have a look at my other blog post on the Top 10 Items you need to pack in your hospital bag.
